Happy 2012 !

happy stitching...

after a couple of months of  'radio silence' I thought we just let you know that we are all safe and well. And despite being busy mums, we are very happy & stitching!

Yesterday I had a lovely morning stitching with Laura Rose at her studio.  Check out her website - http://www.laurarosetextiles.co.uk/  . Not only does Laura make wondeful stitched pictures, her knitting is pretty cool too!  Needless to say that I was in a very happy bubbel after all this.

Watch this space to see how this story unfolds......

Greetings to you all.  Wilma.

PS over the next couple of weeks we will start thinking about publishing some new dates....

We will keep the blog updated, so check regularly (or become a 'follower) for news on workshop dates, kits to order and other information.

We will miss you all, but hope to see you back in March.

Summer holls....

July 14th  we had a lovely evening making reversible Tote-bags. Everyone went home with the bag they made during the evening - and yes : many 'taaaaaaadaaaaaaaaaaa' and 'waaaaauw' moments when it all came together.

Now the summer holls are upon us - it's time for a little camping  (with lots of croissants, smelly cheese, vin, and a crochet hook or two). But we will be back!

For September we have two evenings scheduled... check the blog over the next couple of weeks for more details  :-)

Take care, and we look forward to see you soon.
Amanda and Wilma.

...coming up..

After a great kick-off of the summer workshops, we have an open craft evening on the 26th of May. The common name is a 'stitch and bitch' evening - but I think a 'social sew' sounds nicer.
Come along and meet some other crafters from the area (please let us know if you want to come so we can make sure we have enough cakes!).

Also coming up is a skirt-workshop. We teach you  how to make a quick and easy skirt for a child without a difficult pattern. If you can sew a straight seam and would love to start with some easy outfits for a child, this is the workshop for you. Complete the outfit with a T-shirt and matching applique - and before you know it you have the coolest wardrobe fit for a little princess. Click here to book and use the 'Buy Now' button at the bottom of the page.

We hope to see you soon!

First of the Summer2011 series - Make a Sunhat workshop

In between the banter, laughter, exchange of veggie-plot details and tips and tricks, a lot of sewing took place. Not all hats were finished on the night - but have a look at this fab hat from Michelle. Wonderful '60's fabric combined with contemporary 'dottie-s'.

We hope you all enjoyed it and look forward to see you on the Open Workshop evening at the end of the month.(26th of May)

Crochet Clinic on Thursday (17/2/11)

Do you remember those mad crochet outfits from the '70s ? Those colourful squares which made up a cardigan?  Well, they are not exactly back into fashion but the skill (and art) of crochet is. If it is a baby-blanket or a hot-plate, crochet is a fun way to make a lovely heirloom.

[sveta+084.jpg]
Have a look at this awesome blog to see this crochet-ed scarf and more :

To give you a start and become hoocked on hookie, we run this Thursday evening a 'Crochet Clinic'. The evening is mainly aimed at people who recently started crochet and we will teach you how to make a traditional Granny Square. But if you would like to come along and brush up your crochet skills and learn how to read an easy pattern you are welcome to join in.  Drop us a line to book yourself a place for Thursday.

PS.  there will be jummy cakes too.......

Handbag workshop was great!

Hello Crafters and Stitchers

Last night we created some lovely handbags using the most wonderful designer fabrics from Amy Butlers' Love collection and Kaffe Fasset. Everyone quickly made  their choice of  fabrics  and set down to make their handbag.
The design for this pleated bag was not particularly difficult, but it required precision cutting and more sewing than we normally fit in on one evening. Fitting a magnetic clasp was a bit nerve-racking the first time, but all turned out beautiful.  Have a look at this one..

So, if you like what you see on our blog - why not sign up for one of our workshops. Beginner or not, there is always something that is interesting and fun to make and you have a great evening out.

PS. As usual - Amanda had a real treat for us with her Marmalade Cake with the coffee and tea.  After some requests, we will give in and publish recipes  in a separate section shortly (no, this will not become a baking blog :-) )

Welcome to The Happy Stitcher Workshops!

Thank you for visiting The Happy Stitcher workshops. This is the place to find all the information about our craft workshops in Haslemere.

In addition to our popular bag making workshops we offer a number of new workshops this term, including crochet for beginners and making baby booties.  Other new workshops are currently in development and details will be posted shortly.

Our courses are held in the Oonagh Jeffrey room at Grayswood Village Hall. The room is large enough to accomodate all our crafters whilst at the same time it has a warm, cosy atmosphere. There's more information about our course venue if you click on the venue link.

Each class is equiped with everything you will need to complete your chosen project, this includes sewingmachines.
We pride ourselves on our small class sizes, the maximum workshop size is 10 participants, allowing for excellent tutor support and one-to-one time for participants should they need it.
