Tote-bag challenge

Its the long summer holiday. The kids take part in the reading challenge held by our local library. However, for some reason, no one wants to carry the books nor look after them... Sometimes they even go missing...

In an attempt to keep them busy, I set them a challenge :make your own tote-bag to keep your library books together. Since this involves an ancient singer sewing machine, all were immediately up for this task. 

Given that they are aged 7, 6 and 3 it might be more a personal challenge for me...

Spring 2013 - and we are still happy sewing!

It has been quiet on our blog for over a year. Yes, we are still here - very happy sewing, but also very busy. In between ferrying kids to and from places, pureeing food, and another wash-load, we have been sewing.....

This year it has been mainly kids clothes. Little skirts and dresses with the odd PJ's and bags.
One of our favourites is the 'big Mini Poppy' by 'make it perfect'. A lovely modern and funky pattern which is great for everyday wear in this bizarre weather.

Did you also enjoy the Great British Sewing Bee? The enjoyment of making something with textile and satisfaction you get out of it was inspirational. We enjoyed it, maybe we find some time for some workshops again...
